Enjoy a day safari in our open-air safari vehicle, guided by one of our talented guides (no transfer required for the short drive to Kruger Park Malalane Gate), or book a SANPARKS guided night drive and early morning bush walk (both depart from Malalane Gate and require a transfer).

WITH ACCESS TO FOUR INCREDIBLE GOLF COURSES, BUHALA IS A BUCKET-LIST DESTINATION FOR ANY GOLF ENTHUSIAST

Buhala Lodge’s unique location makes it the closest lodge offering access to the exclusive Leopard Creek Golf course. Guests have the option of enjoying the par 3 course or the world-renowned 18-hole course designed by Gary Player. Enjoy a round at Malalane Golf Course, a 9-hole course with wide fairways and the Onderberg as your backdrop, or visit Kambaku Golf Course, recently voted the #1 nine-hole course in South Africa. For our adventurous golfers, play a round at Skukuza, ‘the wildest golf course in the world’. This 9-hole course is situated in the Kruger National Park and combines two of South Africa’s favorite pastimes, golf and safari.

Due to course maintenance, golf at Leopard Creek is not possible from the 4th of January to the 1st of July 2027.

GEO TRAIL – BARBERTON

Explore one of the world’s oldest geological landscapes along the scenic Bulembu route, where 3.2-billion-year-old rock formations reveal early signs of life. This 40km self-drive between Barberton and Eswatini features well-marked viewpoints and takes around six hours. Guests should bring their own refreshments and sun protection, as facilities are limited.

PANORAMA ROUTE

Enjoy a day trip experiencing the wonderful sights on the beautiful Panorama Route. Guests are collected from the lodge at 08:00 and are escorted by a guide to one of the many waterfalls, Graskop, God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the three Rondawels. The tour includes a lunch stop (for guests’ own account).

ELEPHANT WHISPERS – HAZYVIEW

Enjoy an up-close elephant interaction, including feeding and gentle trunk greetings, in a one-hour experience. Alternatively, opt for a 1.5-hour tour featuring a meet-and-greet, an elephant-back ride, and a picnic lunch. Tours run at 09:00, 12:00, and 16:00.

SKYWAY TRAILS – HAZYVIEW

Glide through a pristine forested valley along the Sabie River on an aerial cable trail featuring 10 platforms and spans up to 230m. Guided throughout, this 1.2km experience offers breathtaking views of the forest below and takes approximately 2.5 hours. A stop at a local restaurant follows (lunch for guests’ own account). Availability confirmed upon booking.

SUDWALA CAVES – NELSPRUIT

Guests are collected from the lodge at 08:00 and transported to the caves, where daily tours run from 08:30 to 16:30. The guided cave experience lasts approximately one hour, followed by an optional lunch at a local restaurant (for guests’ own account). Guests are then transferred back to Buhala Lodge.

CHIMP EDEN – NELSPRUIT

Located within a nature reserve, the Jane Goodall Institute sanctuary is home to rescued chimpanzees from across Africa. Visit from a safe viewing point and learn their stories on a guided tour, available daily (except Christmas Day) at 12:00 and lasting approximately one hour. A restaurant on site offers light meals and refreshments (for guests’ own account).
